Why Logic's '1-800-273-8255' Is So Important

Suicide has been a popular topic in pop culture lately and some talented artists have collaborated to stress the importance of the topic. Logic, Alessia Cara, and Khalid teamed up to drop a song that touches on the topic of sucicide, as it’s title is the phone number for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, “1-800-273-8255”

Logic’s song is an opportunity to turn the conversation about suicide to a conversation about how people can find hope in the wake of tragedy. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline was aware of the song well ahead of its release date, and was ready to prepare for a surplus of calls to come in. Frances Gonzalez, director of communications for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, says that they were very supportive of the song’s message in order find people that might be in crisis and share the message that support is available .

The song describes a person struggling and feeling like they’re at the end of their rope. You then hear the words from the perspective of the Lifeline counselor who in turn gives the caller many reasons to keep fighting for their life. Finally, you will hear the caller express their new positive outlook on life.

Lite FM wants you to know the importance of the message behind this song, which is why we’re playing it every night. Tune in to Lite FM during the evening with Delilah to hear "1-800-273-8255" and it's powerful message about suicide prevention!
